Special Project: Phase 1 Renovation of a Historic Garden

In addition to providing the services above, CampusCare® was contracted by the Boston College Connors Family Retreat Center in 2008 to provide restoration services to St. Cecilia’s Garden.

The St. Cecilia’s Garden, located on the property, is actually a Frederick Law Olmstead design. Frederick Law Olmstead is the father of American landscape, and designed many great locations, such as Central Park in New York, and the Emerald Necklace in Boston, which includes Boston Commons, Boston Public Garden, and the Arnold Arboretum, among other well known destinations.

As part of the project for St. Cecilia’s garden, CampusCare® has initiated a three step process toward restoring the garden. As pictures below show, the garden was immensely overgrown. Thus, the first step was to clear out all undesired brush, foliage, vines, etc and prune other overgrown trees. Next, CampusCare® will work with the Retreat Center to edge and mulch all beds on property, followed by an invasive period of plant management.

CampusCare® is happy to provide valuable services to this historical site that truly exemplifies natural beauty.
