Supporting the Rollin’ Red Sox
CampusCare® was contacted by the Red Sox Foundation, the official team charity of the Boston Red Sox, to perform some work for the Rollin’ Red Sox team at the VA hospital in Brockton.
The Red Sox Foundation supports the Rollin’ Red Sox, a wheelchair softball team. The players on the team are from the New England area and have disabilities such as below knee amputee, above knee amputee, paraplegics, quadriplegics, polio, etc. Many of the players are also wheelchair basketball players. The team was started in 2000 and was New
England’s first wheelchair softball team. The team continues to be the only one of its kind in the New England area. The team’s mission is “to organize, develop, promote, and sponsor both a competitive and recreational wheelchair softball program in the New England area under the guidelines of the National Wheelchair Softball Association.”
On August 16, 2008 the Rollin’ Red Sox hosted an opening day for their Field of Dreams located at the VA Hospital. The day celebrated the completion of major renovations to their asphalt playing field.

CampusCare® is proud to support the renovations to the team’s field, and enjoyed participating in the great opening day ceremonies with the team.
In addition to having gorgeous weather, the day was filled with adding finishing touches to the team’s field, visits with Red Sox players, and the chance to try playing softball in a wheelchair. The opportunity to spend time with these remarkable individuals was an invaluable experience.
